Revolution Coffee

The coffee joint that I visited thrice in one single week.

Revolution Coffee

I had first found out about Revolution Coffee through Instagram (no surprise here). It was a cafe in the West (yay!), and it was relatively near to my work place. I made a mental note to drop by during lunch hour if I had the time one day. So a few months back, I wanted to have some me-time, so I drove to the cafe during my lunch hour just to check it out. It was empty, and I had the whole cafe to myself (for most of the time anyway).

I had already had lunch prior, so I ordered a cuppa coffee. And then at the counter, I spotted the banana bread tray staring at me. And I'd read raving reviews about their banana bread. So on impulse, I added an order of the banana bread to my order. As a baker, I would say there's nothing exceptional about the banana bread. I mean, I can make my own banana bread right? But as a general consumer, it was a pretty good banana bread, it was moist and dense, and I liked how they gave a side of yogurt to pair it with. I would never have thought to eat banana bread with yogurt. But it is a tasty match indeed.

Loved the coffee! It was strong, without much of any acidic notes. So it was a really nice lunch hour spent with my laptop, coffee and banana bread.

In that same week, I was meeting a friend for a KTV session on Saturday morning and suggested to have brunch there before our singing session. There were several early risers at the cafe too. Most probably the owners of the cars parked outside the cafe. The cafe is really quite 'ulu' and inaccessible without a car. It's free parking anyway! Erm, well, at least that's what I assume, since everyone just parks either along the road, or opposite.

We ordered the Big Brunch Breakfast and Pancakes with Gula Melaka sauce to share. The portion of the Big Brunch Breakfast was quite big, as you can see from the full plate below. You get to choose what makes up the platter ie, sausages/bacon/ham, eggs (which style you want), mushrooms/tomato/onions.

We enjoyed the pancakes with the gula melaka sauce, but lamented that the sauce was too little! While the staff were clearing our plates, we mentioned that the food was good, but we thought there was too little sauce for the pancakes. The friendly staff actually said we could have asked for more sauce! *wails internally* Ha.

And then the very next day, another girlfriend suggested to catch up over coffee at Revolution Coffee. Well, I liked the place...and it is accessible from my place...so I head over to meet them though I didn't order anything cos I had a prior lunch appointment. The girlfriend's granola parfait looks delish, and she gave the thumbs up for it too.

There are outdoor seats, and the place was quite crowded when I was there on a late Sunday afternoon. The cafe is pretty children-friendly. I saw a cafe staff passing coloured pencils and paper drawings to a family with a kid, and I spotted a toy tricycle outside the cafe.

I see myself visiting Revolution Coffee again in future as it ticks all the right boxes - friendly staff, good coffee, awesome (West) location, relatively quiet (depending on when you visit), FREE parking. It's definitely one of my favourite cafes around at the moment.

  1. Great review, thanks for sharing. Makes me want to visit the place too. I especially like the beer container tables. There is this map called CafeSG that lets you find all the local cafes in Singapore! Super useful for cafe hopping and to discover new cafes near home and workplace.
