Ricotta Pancakes

I never knew that I could possibly experience nausea that would result in me not eating anything for more than eighteen hours. I literally did not eat anything from 4-ish yesterday afternoon till 11am this morning. And even then, when I was chomping on a piece of bread, I was eating for the sake of eating, and not because I was hungry. Me, not eating. I never imagined the day I would see those words in a sentence together. I was never the kind who who have no appetite. Like say if I'm stressed, instead of having no appetite like some people do, I just carry eating as usual without a care. Oh well, that just goes to show the wide range of side effects that period pains can bring about. The woes of being a woman.

Cheese Scallions Scones

There are days where I use my laptop to death, switching it on almost the moment I step into the house; and then there are days where I can spend days not even touching it at all. I went without turning on my laptop for the whole of the week. After staring at the computer the whole day at work, it is certainly a break after work cos I can do other stuff, like say, head out with friends, gym, read a book, or get addicted to mobile phone games (yes, I'm currently hooked onto Alpha Betty, no thanks to my colleague). Talk about subbing one form of technology with another. *shakes head at self*

Korean Soy Garlic Fried Chicken

I have tons of photos saved in my computer untouched since...last year ha! So I was opening folders and poking around to see what's interesting when I spied this folder staring at me. I couldn't resist the photos.

After my attempt at making 양념통닭 (Yangnyeom Tongdak) last year, I had actually tried my hand at making it again a few months after the first try, but with soy garlic sauce instead. I got the recipe from a Korean cookbook but was not too pleased with how the sauce turned out, cos it was too salty for my liking. But nevertheless, the photos turned out quite well, so decided to share them here.

Brunch: Blueberry Brie Bake

It's been some time since I posted about our homemade family brunches. I have a few backlogs to go, but here's one of the brunches we had three months ago in April (yes, I went back to track the date through Instagram...).

Brunch: Shakshouka, waffles and salads

It's the weekend again. Instead of brunching out, how about having brunch at home instead? I've been doing once a month (or so) meals at home on the weekends, where I wake up early to prep a meal for the fams.

This was a few months ago, where I just started doing the whole dine-at-home thing. It helps that I get to make use of my food props for real. Like thinking about what plate/bowl to use for a certain dish, and how the overall placement of the dishes should look like. Ha! The inane things I do.

Brunch: Rosemary roasted potatoes

Since I love being in the kitchen so much, I decided that it would be a good idea to do brunch at home one weekend for once instead of dining out for a family meal.

The first time we had weekend brunch at home a few months ago, this was the result.

Scrambled eggs brunch

Even though I like visiting cafes to check out the latest "hotspots", in fact, I secretly prefer brunch at home.

I like that cafes provide a good atmosphere for me to catch up with friends, and I can spend time observing the cafe's decor and little details. But nothing beats having brunch at home for a thoroughly pleasant time. I mean, it doesn't matter if I wake up late, or whether I'm dressed in my PJs, I still get to enjoy my meal in peace at the balcony on a lazy weekend.

Girls' brunch session

I've been staying at my new place for about three months or so, and I've yet to invite any of my friends over. So one weekend (of course, that's thanks to advanced planning on our part as it's always hard to schedule a meeting with all of them present), I got a bunch of them over for a homecooked brunch session. All of us chipped in a little dish (or two) and contributed to our feast for the day...
