Remember when I spoke of the orange jewels previously? I made some candied kumquats as I knew I could keep them longer in the fridge before actually deciding what I should do with them.

Imagine my pleasure when I saw punnets of kumquats in the supermart. There they were, small little bright orange jewels, packed in little plastic containers, sitting innocently on the racks. They were cheap too, and without even knowing what I was going to use them for, I happily grabbed two punnets, just because they're a fruit I've yet to work with before.

I know. I'm such a sucker like that.

For the picnic that I mentioned in my previous post, besides making a scrumptious apple crisp, I also made some citrus tea cakes. As I had a pack of dried kumquats that I have no idea what to do with, I decided to try making something I saw some time back from Tartelette's website.
