Apple cranberry walnut oat crumble for a picnic

I went for a picnic a couple weeks back with some of my girlfriends. They requested that I make the dessert, and I was okay since you know, I love to bake. And the girl pals are not a big fan of sweet, so they requested something fruity, preferably a fruit crumble. So, I decided to make an apple crumble. And add in frozen cranberries(which are tart) that I had frozen when they were in season  to make the dessert less sweet.

Cranberry white chocolate lime tart

Two weeks ago, packets of fresh cranberries appeared on the fruits aisle. I've yet to seen fresh cranberries before. I'm more used to seeing its cousin, the dried cranberries. I like dried cranberries and have always added them to my granola whenever I make granola. I suppose with Christmas approaching, everyone was using festive related ingredients to make goodies and treats (- think cranberries, eggnog, gingerbread, peppermint). Well, as for me, as the label on the bag of cranberries says, "Buy Two, Freeze One", that's exactly what I did!

Lemon curd and lemon cranberry oatmeal scones

The egg yolks were accumulating. Day after day, three new sunshine yellow orbs will make their appearance in the yolks container in the refrigerator. The bright coloured rounds beckoned to me. I hate the thought of seeing them go to waste. Instead of the usual ice creams that the Sister has been churning out, my mind was on a luscious creamy lemon curd.

Cherry crisps and a new book

It's cherries season now. Hooray for that. I simply love popping those bright chirpy looking fruits into my mouth. The taste of exploding cherry juice on your tongue - priceless. Pity about the pits though. Someone should just cultivate seedless cherries already...(think seedless grapes). ;)

Rose and cranberry cookies

Well, I'm still feeling a bit under the weather. I spent my whole Saturday doing some me stuff. I went shopping alone! It's been so long since I last did that. I was out hunting for a suit for work, but alas, I didn't find what I was looking for. Probably cos of the crowds in town, and my flu, I was a bit tired to really put more effort into my search.

Anyway, before the flu medication I took kicks in, I'm gonna share some crackies (cookies) pictures with you guys.

Cookie monster

The first couple of weeks I started my internship, I made different cookies to bring to work to share and snack on. After that, I wisened up and left out baking cookies for fear of sitting all day and growing fat munching on cookies. snorts.

Anyway, I re-made these lime melts (previously lemon melts), but somehow they are starting to lose their appeal to me (probably cos of the layer of powdered sugar on the outside that made them all sugary sweet). They are still nice though. In small doses.
