Unlucky day

Do you know the meaning of truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuly reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally "unlucky-ness" (or looking at it at another point of view, embarrassing)?

Daydreaming. And regretting cos the next moment you know...
Step into a pile of vomit with your flip flops (meaning some of that guck lands on your toes).
And because you know, vomit is kinda watery, you slipped.
And banged up your right knee and scrape it.
And your left ankle twists.
And to add to your mortification, there was someone there to witness your unlucky streak.
And the bastard didn't even have to decency to ask if I was alright. (I would! If I saw someone fell in front of me. Hmpf.)
And now, you have a big bruise on your knee and it hurts badly.

Gah.

The only good thing that came out of it was that when I crashed on the ground, my left hand was carrying a bad of groceries with a carton of eggs at the bottom. I was dreading opening it in case I find all my eggs shattered. But luckily (how lucky seriously, considering my luck), the eggs survived. I can't say the same for the person though. Bah.

Anyway, I'm rushing for my final assignments. And since I'm currently working on my photomedia folio, I'm starting to buzz around the kitchen this week. My folio will comprise of 14 images - 2 series of 7s. One being food ingredients in its natural form, and second, the same ingredients used for food preparations. Since I havn't been uploading any pictures lately, here's the reds for both my series after all that planning, photographing and photoshopping. I'll probably upload the final images after I hand it up on the 9th. ;)

Strawberry.
Berry mousse charlotte.

Electricity down

As if my situation is not bad enough with the lack of Internet (still!), the electricity for the house went off today. At first I thought it was just an electricity trip, and just flicking the power switch will restore the power. But then, I realised after a while, it was not just our house, it was our whole building. And then cos I left the house to go UQ to do work with Jos, at the bus stop, I saw some workmen fixing some cables opposite the road. It seemed like the power shortage was affecting the neighbourhood??? Wow. Serious case. Unfortunate us.

Anyway, another funny library incident (what's up with libraries and me?) happened today while we were leaving the library at the end of the day. Jos was saying "I Love You" in Korean to me, and I wanted to joke back saying in Korean that "I don't love you" but I didn't know how to say the word "not" for Korean so my sentence was half Eng/Korean. As Jos's Korean group mate was there too, I asked her how to say "I don't love you" in Korean while walking down the stairs. There were two guys walking up, and I heard one of them said to the other something in Korean...which sounded suspiciously like an answer to my question since the sentence contained the word "love". OMG. Major embarrassing moment. I practically covered my face and ran down the remaining stairs. Snigger.

Storm

QLD has been experiencing really weird weather these days. On Wednesday, it rained heavily non-stop and it caused floods in some areas in Brisbane. The next day, my internet connection was down and I couldn't access the Internet since then. Till now (Saturday) my Internet is still not working! :( In this busy exams/assignments period - why must it happen to me???

No time to bake. I gotta find time cos I want to take photos for my photomedia folio...

I have 4 more assignments left. 2 and half in fact since I've completed 1 and a half roughly. 2 due on 1 Jun and 2 on 9 Jun. After that it'll be byebye QUT. I should be tentatively flying back to Singapore on 22 Jun. Havn't decide what I'm going to do, but I'll probably be flying back in Aug for my graduation.

In UQ now with Jos trying to get some work done, so I'll probably won't be online these coupla days till I get my Internet back. I feel so out of touch with the world without the Internet.... :(

Guitar Hero fan

You know what's funny in this stressful whole-rushing-assignments period?

A friend, repeating what you've just told her - which happens to be "I hit your boob!" in a loud voice in the school library where there were many people around.

You know what's not funny in the same context?

Switching on your laptop, and first detecting that something weird is going on, when you notice that your desktop wallpaper is a serene -just-reformatted-look blue when normally, it was personalised with a black background. Then proceeding to notice that your school assignments folder on your desktop is gone. Then clicking on my computer>>hard drives>>my documents and realising that all your existing files are MIA and the laptop seemed to have undergone a severe case of amnesia by displaying all your old old (super way ages ago) files folders. I literally FREAKED out. I had not backup my current school assignments into my external hard disc and it seemed like all my data was all gone. Admidst the rush-time assignments period. Things were looking way waaaaaaaaay bad.

In a panic, flapping my hands around and exclaiming wildly that my laptop has gone bonkers on me, Woo Aa's words then penetrated through the thick haze fogging my brain - restart the computer. I did as she said, and thank all the heavens, my laptop was back to normal. I was not taking any chances this time round and the first thing I did was to back up my school assignments, pictures and music. Phew. Crisis averted. I shudder to think about the snot-snivelling stage I would probably be in if my laptop could not be saved...

On a random note, I was at a friend's house over the weekend for a potluck, and there was Guitar Hero at her place. COOL! It was my first time playing it and it was uber fun! I love love Guitar Hero. A pity it's like around $1000 in all? What with the Wii player and the Guitar Hero playset. Awww. I really really want it! Boo.

Finally finished backlog. (:

Here's all the remaining backlog of food pictures! This is for the month of April. The previous post was end Feb/Mar baking. Finally. I almost feel a sense of relief that I've uploaded all the pictures. (: Now, there's the bento pictures to tackle...haha. But then I think I like to mass upload a month's worth of bentos at a shot, so I'll only post bento pictures up at the end of each month.

Omg. My eyes are drooping so badly now that it's 3am. I'm supposed to go gym tomorrow morning. So I better head off to bed lest I wake up late and then decide that I'm lazy to walk to Fitness First. Ha.

Ingredients to make?
Quiches. It's my first attempt and I even made the pate sucree from scratch! It was wasy, but it took time rolling the dough out and cutting it to fit into the pan. I wanted to experiment with two flavours so I went with spinach for one, and mushrooms bacon for the other.

Waiting to go into the oven.

Ingredients for making homemade soup.
Vienna mini bread rolls.
The roll on the far right is from Woo Aa! She bought this Korean premix sesame bun pack and tried it out. It tasted pretty chewy and unlike a bread, but it was nice though.

Homemade beef barley vegetable soup. Bread + soup during cold weather is simply the best.
Uber mini burgers. About three mouthfuls each and they're gone. ;)
