Anyway, at first we thought it was food poisoning - and she suspected my homemade icecream (how sad) but luckily (or should I say not?) it was not food poisoning, the doctor's final diagnosis was appendicitis. Anyway, the suspected icecream was one I made a few weeks back - Oatmeal praline icecream, which she loved anyway.
Here's some pictures before I get to my rants. Pardon me for the rantings.

Anyway, yeah, back to the Bangkok issue.
As travel is out of the question, of course there are stuff to do - cancellation of hotel/airline tickets. The hotel replied promptly with a refund (which I can't see in the bank account but shall wait a few days for banks to process payment before I email them again...). The airline. THE AIRLINE WAS ANOTHER MATTER BY ITSELF.
My sister has (not asked, but rather) instructed me to blog about it, threatening to nag at me if I should not do it. Haha. Anyway, the AIRLINE (I shall not name the airline cos you know, it's scary how you can't have freedom of speech anymore on the net as businesses can sue people who express their honest opinions online. Anyone read the Obolo article on Sunday Times? But let's just say it's a BUDGET airline, that is five letters. Hmmm, am I not obvious enough??) was totally crappy. After they finally reply my query (which I sent on Sunday night - how efficient. Not.) today, they replied that my request was denied. Like, hello? On what basis? Care to explain WHY??? I have a valid medical reason hellooooooo.
In addition, they say that in short, the only option I have was to change my flight date, BUT have to pay extra (okay, fine). So very nicely, I said, so can you help me check how much extra? The person replied the charges vary depending on travel dates. So I said check December. The person had the gall to quote me that in order to travel to Bangkok using the same timings I have already chosen should I have gone Bangkok this week (Morning flight to and night flight back), it will cost about $1000 per person of extra charges. HELLO? Budget Airline? To Thailand? Not traveling very far you know. You freaking tell me, would you, would you? I know it's peak traveling period, but that is way too overboard already!
I passed the phone to my sister, who was all worked up by now and she did a way splendid job at arguing with the ridiculous operator over the airfare charges. I'm way timid to really have a go at the person and my sister was awesome at it. Snigger. We STILL have to pay a few extra hundred dollars at the end, and we are traveling in January. I bet my sister will tell everybody - NEVER TRAVEL VIA _ _ _ _ _ Airlines again!!! You bet we won't.
