A week's events

Hmmm, as Mua had said, the weather was batty last Friday. It was sunny/raining on/off and so we moved the picnic indoors to Jos's place. Had a smashing time playing cards the whole noon. Gosh, we're such easy to please people. lol. Different games like dai dee, black jack, some maths game thing (that had me tearing my hair out) and some game that Mua/Bing suggested. Next on was UNO. As you can see, we really did spend the whole day playing cards. snigger.

Saturday went over to Matthew's place for dinner to kinda celebrate Mei Li's birthday early. We had a bbq and there were tons and tons of meat. I took photos, and will post 'em up when I can photoshop resize them. haha. Sister would have died and gone to heaven, with the amount of meat on the table - beef, different sausages, pork, chicken, fish, mashed potatoes, corn, baby carrots, mushroom soup. It was a big feast for 6 and amazingly enough, they managed to polish off everything. haha.

I was super duper careless on Monday, first concussing myself in the laundry room (deciding that my forehead's new best friend is the sharp corner of the dryer above the washing machine and that they should give each other a super tight hug. bah.) and then leaving my mobile and wallet at home when I went to school at night. Luckily, I normally bring dinner to school so no worries bout no food to eat, and I was hoping daddy wouldn't call cos if he did, it would be numerous missed calls...

My forehead aches like shit right now, I keep massaging it tentatively but it hurts so much I don't dare to give it a good ol' rub.

Yesterday went Sunnybank with Jos, Mua and Bing for lunch and groceries. I wonder if the knock to my head has garbled my mind cos I kept stumbling over my speech. Words that spilled outta my mouth seemed like distorted nonsense (read - skewered pronounciation). No wonder I was the source of entertainment to the rest. grah.

We sat down to have dessert at the dao huay shop and read mags. I love love love the magazines there. TW mags that feature damn kawaii clothes. I love 图片衣服, 尤其是衣, 或裙子也 okay! hehe.

We were getting on the bus home, when I was saying something (aka skewered pronounciation) that cracked Jos and Mua up. The bus driver said something to them I couldn't hear and when we sat down, I asked them what he said.

"Girls, please do not laugh on the bus."

We were all damn shocked lar. Like what kinda thing as it to say to passengers? Jos felt extremely put off by those words lor. Like how could the driver say such a weird thing. pah.

Today, I realise I kinda lost something very very important. I've searched all over the place looking for it and I can't seem to find it! Shit.

Pictures up again! (:

Oh hey, I went to school and made use of the comp lab to edit my picture sizes to fit into my blog. So here's some pictures again!

04/04/08: Lemons! What am I going to do with all these lemons?
Used lemons stack.
Lemon zest.

Pouring the lemon mixture atop the crust layer.
Lemon bars! I made lemon bars. (:

Completed icing-sugar-dusted lemon bars.
The recipe churned out HEAPS of these babies and of cos, I couldn't possibly eat them all by myself, it was shared among plenty of friends heh. (:
07/04/08 dinner: egg mayo sandwich, veg and ham rose/tomatoes on a stick!
The close up of ham rose. Or rose ham. Oh whatever. ;)
09/04/08 lunch: Stirfried beef, rice, veg and fruits.
11/04/08: Cake decorating in process...
I realised I shouldn't have added the middle almonds they look ridiculous. lol.
Therese's birthday cake!

14/04/08 dinner: soba noodles, chicken wrapped in egg sheet, miso marinated fish, cucumbers and tomatoes.

Mua came over for lunch so we had Japanese rice, miso soup and stirfried chicken. We're going for a mini picnic session with Bing and Jos tomorrow at Southbank. Mua's going to make fried rice and Jos, sandwiches. I'll be making some cupcakies cos I need to bring some to a dinner I'm going to on Saturday anyway. (: Hope the weather's fine tomorrow!

Picture-less post

It'll be pictureless posts from now till I manage to get my hands on some Adobe Photoshop software. Adobe has the 30 day free trial thing before it locks you out while asking you to buy the software. Poor students like me will have to *ahem* resort to other means to get the software. Hopefully I can get it soon. ;)

The week has zoomed by pretty quickly. Assignment was due on Monday and I happily submitted the (goddamn thing) assignment. I hope I didn't misinterpret the question and hopefully won't fail the thing. grah.

Went DFO on Friday with Jos and managed to get some lovely cheap deals. Sweet. Bargain hunter? Checked. Then I headed home to drop off my stuff before bringing the chocolate cake I baked for Therese's birthday to River City for a "surprise" for Therese. Hung out there eating and chilling, the birthday girl busy taking photos with everyone there, and then starting the alcohol games after the cake session. Geraldine was the sober one for the night, choosing to mix drinks and stuff cos she was driving. I managed to get a lift home from her afterwards. Lovely.

Went Sizzler for brunch with Pamela the next day. The salad bar was yummy, loads of salads, plus some pasta, soup and dessert dished (I wonder why they named it salad bar then?). We stuffed ourselves silly with food and then felt so horribly full later on hurhur. We did our groceries shopping and headed home. Felt pretty full till 10pm that night and I decided to cook myself some instant noodles. Unhealthy I know. But heck, it's my second meal of the day only! (Excuses...)

It's pretty weird posting without pictures, but hey hey, make do for a while and I'll be back with plenty of pictures (of food no less). (:

Melbourne Part 2

24/03/08: Setting out for our shopping trip!

I love how they have horse carriages though it's kinda sad for the horses lar. tsk. How contradictory.
Thai food for lunch. The spring rolls were good man.
My beef slices/balls noodles. The meat's still cooking so this pic actually looks quite gross wahaha.
We couldn't resist (okay, me suggested) trying this vermicelli version of spring roll too.
Jams still has space for a donut. Me? I'm seriously not that big of a donut fan. I didn't buy a single Krispy Kreme during my trip lol.
Apparently, Brisbane's going to have Krispy Kremes soon too, in the city.
We ate dinner at home to save money (us being poor poor uni students, can't afford to eat out EVERY meal you know...)
The chef with her creation - the iceberg lettuce salad. hehe ;)

After dinner, we walked over to Brunetti and I treated her for letting me stay over her place. Let's look at what Brunetti has to offer. I reckon it's my fave dessert place in Melbourne, it tops Koko Black! haha.
Loads of petit fours.
More.
MORE.
Towers of sin.
Doors of fats.
I want a cake from Brunetti! Any cake will suffice. -drools-
Sigh.
Loves.
More loves loves.
Looks good doesn't it?
This is one sweet bomb.

Brisk business at Brunetti.
25/03/08: Jams balcony view at 7am plus - the sky's still so dark, how unusual. Brisbane, by this time, would be uber brightly lit. grah.
Early morning at the Queen Vic Market (by myself cos Jams is still sound asleep and I wanted to get Queen Vic out of the way so we can shop at other places when the shops open hee!)

You can kinda see my reflection ha.

There's like the tram transport system in Melbourne (very much like our Brisbane buses). Buses are not as common, they only operate to the suburbs (that's what Jams said).

My fave buy in Melbourne (:
Jams huge bed can fit us both hoho.
Jams seem to like her new cereal alot....
Reaching in for a munch...
Alas, I couldn't snap fast enough to capture her in the act of munching, the hand was already in for a second serve! hurhur.
At Jam's balcony overlooking the city (:
Brunetti goodies to bring back to Brisbane!
Taking goodies out at our dinner place to snap photos haha.
The hazelnut was the best. Why didn't I listen to Jams and bought an additional one?? -sulks-
This was the same we tried the previous night.
Lemon tart I like!
Pad Thai served on a lovely plate.
I thought this was the spiciest (and sour-est) but Jams think otherwise grah.
It's not spicy as it looks. Jams tolerance for spiciness is really low. tsk ha!
After feeling so stuffed from Thai dinner, we shared a cold chocolate drink and a dessert plate at Koko Black.

I like this the best - I reckon it's some kinda chocolate mousse?

Jams likes the chocolate drink, me thinks it's okay; the desserts were better ;)
Chocolate shavings.
I kept sneaking to the place where they place their made orders to snap photos (hope the chef person didn't think I'm mad haha)

After Koko Black, I was rushing to catch the free shuttle to the Avalon airport. Thanks to Jams who accompanied me to the backpackers hotel and bade me farewell.

Overall, it had been a smashing trip (albeit too short a one). I wish I was back there still, crashing at Mel/Jams place. Eat/Shop/Walk more. WHY ISN'T THERE A BRUNETTI, or KOKO BLACK or even MAX BRENNER (which I had no time to squeeze in) outlet in Brisbane. Brisbane's way deprived. bah.

It's going to be a flurry of assignments rushing from now till..erm I'm not sure haha. But I'll post up pictures of the lemon bars I made yesterday. Soon? I think I gotta stop doing nothing and suddenly, the day's almost half-gone. Procrastinator? Definitely. Sigh. Till the next time.
