Melbourne Part 1

I'll upload the pictures for my short trip to Melbourne in two parts. The following pictures are for Day 1-2 (22o3o8-23o3o8). I'll upload the second part soon (I hope). I've actually got more pictures on my St Kilda trip cos there were just so many cake shops along that stretch of road and I was happily taking lots of shots on the yummy looking treats. Alas, I deleted some of them by mistake as my camera had no more space to accommodate more pictures. I think Jams has some in her computer's recycle bin cos I left them there and hopefully she'll send them to me soon. (:

22/03/08: Lunch bento I woke up at 430am to make for my morning flight.

Arrival at Melbourne Avalon airport.
Waiting for Mel and her bf to pick me up!

Jetstar!
We went to some DFO after a brief stop at some shopping centre cos Alvin has not eaten yet. I got myself some gold sandals (kinda like gladiator but not)! (:
Next stop is to Glen Waverly to walk around, there were plenty of Asian groceries at that area man. And we chanced upon funny mirrors! Here we are looking stumpy...
...and here we are real elongated. hurhur.
Had Chinese for dinner and oh my god I miss these so much!!!! My beloved 小笼包s! (although the skin was a tad thick, the soup was oooooooooooh!)
Gelato after dinner
Passionfruit and raspberry is refreshing, instead of the usual milky flavours.

Raspberry was very sour!
Naughty Mel heh. ;)
I like the shop's signboard. It's so colourful.

After gelato, we headed over to their place for the night. We had some alcohol sitting outside their yard, looking at the stars. Their place is seriously way cool. They are utterly frickin' amazing - they have like tetrabytes of shows (dramas/movies!) OMG. We watched some animation flick Happily Never After which was pretty amusing (think Cinderella with a twist to the plot). I proceeded to happily copy some shows from them into my hard drive which I brought along heh.

Moi comfort for the first night.
Pretty candles in their living room...
They got new chicks as pets from Alvin's mum and they named them KFC and Red Rooster. hurhur.
23/03/08: Early morning outside Alvin/Mel's place.

Their place
Woke up early to catch a train to city so as to get a tram to St Kilda...
Mel at her Uni campus.
Federation Square.
Still at Federation Square
Lunch at Fringe, just one of the many cafes there that looked utterly enticing for brunch.
Mel's pasta.
Moi steak sandwich.
There were so many huge dogs at St Kilda, this was like one of the largest I saw and I snapped a picture of it. Isn't it like enormous? It's like twice/thrice the size of a small child.
This is one great shop man I love this shop!
Warm decadent dark chocolate
Easter chocolate eggs

Uber yummy tasting churros dipped into dark chocolate. (I want some right NOW)
Luna Park(amusement park) at St Kilda.
St Kilda's Beach

Melbourne Central
Jams and Alvin joined us for dinner at Lygon Street (home to a mass of Italian restaurants - a pity most were closed as it was Easter Sunday -.-"). We ate at this place which served free bruschetta, and a really good seafood platter.
The seafood platter for two (like huh rights? We shared it among us 4 hee)

Pizza
Oozing melty cheese...
Lygon St is really crowded during dinner time even though it's a public holiday!
Satiated.
Went back and played some mahjong with Jams and her mates: this is what I got for our very first game hahaha ;)

And so the first part of photos completed.

On a happy side note, I wanted to do a feature on Phantom of the Opera (PotO hereafter) costumes and emailed the publicity people before I flew off to Melbourne. The day after I reached Brisbane, I was walking to get groceries and thinking of my story (if I should change my idea cos they've not get back to me yet) when my mobile rang. It was the publicity person! She arranged for me to have a phone interview with the Head of wardrobe person and I was like so happy lar. I hope she gets back to me on whether the understudy for the lead actress would be available for an interview soon. hmmms. (:

Of food, more food and what else - FOOD.

I'm thinking my blog's gonna turn into a food blog soon, what with all the photographs of food (and absence of people) hurhur.

The weeks passed by very quickly, cooking, more cooking, occasional meal with friends, oh and a movie (The Other Boelyn Girl) with Joscelin. I was a bit grossed out by the movie's theme - incest, intense sibling rivalry, it was saved by the lovely Scarlett in the movie.

I'm lazy to type, so ya, pictures instead. ;)

10/03/08 dinner: Failed omurice cos the omelette was falling apart haha. But my beef rolls make up for it haha. ;)
This is how my tamagoyaki looks like.
10/03/08 lunch : Carbs - Pizza I made from pita bread.
10/03/08 dinner: omg I will NEVER buy canned eels ever again. I miss eating unagi so much so I bought canned eels and it totally tasted like sardine or whatever. earugh.
15/03/08 Rocklea markets with Bing.
I love gerberas!
Uber mini sized apples
Miniscule apples are frigging cute! I got a bagful (around ten or more?) for $1.50.
Bing is very amused by this odd shaped looking eggplant.

Lovely "rose" lettuce.
三色丼 lunch at home.
17/o3/o8 dinner: 三色丼 (sanshoku bento: minced beef+pork/spinach/iri tamago)
Woo Aa said it looked like a country's flag. haha.
Packed to go to school!
19/03/08 lunch
I keep seeing anpanman in Jap bento blogs and I decided to copy (ya I'm so unoriginal lols)
My mini apple!
