Here's the final cut of the Xmas cookies baking! Yay. I cleared all my backlog pictures. (: I made 3 different types of cookies to giftwrap this year - snickerdoodles, chocolate chip cookies and checkerboard cookies.
The first and last types were new recipes, while the middle is a trusty old one. I loved how the checkerboard cookies tasted but it was a chore rolling the shapes out. And they weren't the squarish shapes I had desired. Snickerdoodles tasted so-so in my opinion. I love trying out new recipes. Look out for the next entry on earl grey muffins I made today for the Sister. (:
Midnight baking as I was rushing to get all of them done by the next day for Sister to bring to work. (:
I stayed up till 1-2am wrapping all these for the Sister to bring to work. Unfortunately I think the checkerboard cookies in all her bags were a bit soft. I felt bad to those who received these bags cos they weren't as crunchy as they were supposed to be. My apologies! I only realised it the next day when I was wrapping the bags for my friends and realised some were chewy-tasting and so I placed the rest in the toaster for a while.
I freehand cut these shapes for two special girls - ahem actually Siew REQUESTED for it and influenced Mua to ask for it too haha-.
My first picnic in Singapore was with the PW girls. (: It was a lovely day out at the Botanical Gardens. We ate, drank, played and was merry. ;)
Potato salad and sandwiches (not shown) by Adeline; sandwiches by Cheryl; kebabs and green tea (not shown) by me; blueberry muffins by Mel.
After our satisfying lunch, we settled down for games. We started with Taboo, then proceeded on with playing cards. I taught the girls Bridge and we had fun with that before playing Dai Dee.
Of course, what's an outing without some cam-whoring... ;)
There was a wedding couple at the gardens! How lovely. Nosy lil' me used my camera to zoom all the way to capture this photo haha. I wonder why do people choose to take outdoor shots when the bride's gown is bound to drag across the dirty floor. Like, wouldn't it be a chore to wash up after the shoot? Just a thought.
We actually cabbed up to Dempsey for B&J from Botanical Gardens cos the heat was damn unbearable. It cost us like $3.60 in total so imagine how ridiculous it seemed. ;)
Sister took leave yesterday and we went town for lunch. Her original plan was to have the Sakura buffet...right till the very moment that Daddy ask if we wanted to have lunch together. smirks. Off flew the thoughts of having Japanese buffet. Sister suggested Akashi at Paragon. When dining out with Daddy, sometimes our selections tend to go *coughs* a bit pricier. ha!
After lunch at Akashi, we walked over to Canele for yummy desserts. We ordered the above three desserts to share while sipping coffee. Omg. Sister's choice of macha was superb - the mousse was simply divine. Daddy wanted something strawberry, thus the strawberry shortcake. What is dessert without something chocolatey? So I chose the chocolate one - it was a tad sweet compared to the other two, but the crunchy nut texture was pretty tasty too.
Okays, it's the last night of 2008 today. I'm meeting Wen. Plans are unsure still at this very moment. Most likely we're heading to Holland V to chill with her friend for countdown, then heading to town for midgnight screening of Twilight! Then will be staying over at her place I hope. ;) Can't wait!
